Mrs. Henderson’s 3rd-grade class had so much fun building leprechaun traps! 🍀 The activity helped spark their creative writing as they worked on stories about how they designed and built their traps.

Congratulations to these amazing winners from East Elementary third grade for their outstanding entries in Swain SWCD's 2026 Bookmark Contest! Ella Boston placed first, Corlee Wegenka placed second, and Azrael Corbin placed third.
This year's contest theme was "We All Live in a Watershed" and these ladies hit it out of the park! Their designs were creative, eye-catching, and most notably, they highlighted how important it is to take care of our watersheds.
Ella's first place design has been printed into bookmarks to be distributed throughout the county! Come get yours from our office. 🔖📖 All three winners received goody bags and money prizes from Swain SWCD, and their drawings will also be on display at the Swain County Agricultural Fair in August. Great job! 🎉
