The State of North Carolina is launching the new SUN Bucks Program, a food assistance program that will provide benefits to qualifying students and families to help purchase healthy foods during the summer months. Most children who qualify will be found automatically eligible, and do not need to apply. Students DON'T need to apply if:
Have an approved Free-Reduced Program (FRP) meals application on file with the school OR
Are directly certified for FRP because they receive FNS/food stamps, WorkFirst (TANF/cash assistance), or Medicaid (with income requirements) OR
Are Categorically Eligible for FRP because they are in foster care, Head Start, or are migrant, runaway or experiencing homelessness.
The application is based on income, so a child not in one of the groups above can still apply to have their income eligibility determined. An online application is available and can be accessed at NCDHHS.servicenowservices.com/gsp. Paper copies of this application are also available at your child's school.
